ZAMFARA INSECURITY: Muslim cleric warns people against rumour

The Imam of Rijiyar Gabas Quarters Jumu’at mosque in Gusau, Mal Umar Gummi has admonished people of zamfara state to shun rumour mongering especially as it affects the security operations currently going on in the state. He made the call during the weekly Jumuat prayer sermon today on vices that Allah abhors which people are wrongly taking so lightly. While reading from surah al-isra’i, the imam mentioned 10 forbidden things enshrine by Allah for Muslims to avoid.

On rumour mongering which is among the 10 vices, he cited the issue of current military operation to secure peace in the state by the armed forces as something very crucial as such people should not go about spreading rumours of military operations and sometimes saying things that are not true.

Furthermore, the scholar also blame some people for exaggerating the power, the numbers, the mobility and the capacity of bandits which he said give false impression and throw fear among people. He urges people to watch their utterances and should not delve in issues they know nothing about.

He also gave the security agencies a fat on the back on their effort to secure the state from bandits. He call on all and sundry to continue to pray and support the security agents as they battle to secure peace in the state.
